Moderate weather and cool soil temperatures delayed bud-break and flowering by a few weeks. A warm summer without extreme heat carried through to harvest allowing for a slow, meticulous harvest cadence. Fruit for our red blend includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot from 15 distinct blocks. Harvest for this fruit started September 21 and finished October 18.\n\n","production-notes":"The 2023 'Red Wine' shows aromatic depth and precision, with layered notes of black cherry, plum, and ripe cranberry. The fruit is lifted by accents of lavender and sarsaparilla, adding elegance, nuance and complexity. The palate is firm and focused, supported by firm texture and bright acidity.","tasting-winemaking-notes":"Our 2023 Red Blend is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Cabernet Franc (21%) and Merlot (19%). Grapes were hand harvested, cluster sorted and de-stemmed on a block-by-block basis. Fermentation and maceration was completed in concrete (62%), stainless steel (35%) and neutral French oak 500L (3%) – with an average of 17 days on skins. Since the 1950&rsquo;s the vinification and &eacute;levage of Mayacamas remains remarkably consistent and our continued commitment to employ classical techniques and tools is integral to the character of these wines. The mountain terroir at Mayacamas ranges from 1,800 to 2,400 feet in elevation and the estate spans 475 acres, only 50 of which are dedicated to vine. Healthy winter and spring rainfall replenished the soils, marking the third consecutive season average to above average rain. A cool, prolonged spring delayed bud break and flowering, but a warming trend at the of April allowed flowering to wrap with above average fruit set. Summer temperatures were warm in general, with a quite a few moderate heat events. Persistent warm temperatures pushed our higher elevation Chardonnay to ripen quickly, with our Wente clone in the Terraces being harvested on August 19 to kick off harvest.","production-notes":"The 2024 Chardonnay is a textural-driven wine with aromatics of white and yellow flowers. Tones of Anjou pear, Golden Delicious apple, and lemon curd engage the front of the palate. The mid-palate exhibits balance and depth with marzipan, white pepper and mint. The wine’s finish is long and leaves the back palate with a slate and saline finish.","tasting-winemaking-notes":"Chardonnay grapes were hand harvested, cluster sorted and pressed whole cluster on a block-by-block basis. Alcoholic fermentation and aging was completed in a mix of oak vessels of various sizes and origins – 1,000L Foudre, 500L Puncheon and neutral 228L being most prominent. Malolactic fermentation was inhibited. The wine was aged for 12 months,
