Vineyard Notes
The Pillow Road vineyard is located in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County, southwest of the city of Sebastopol, in an area affectionately known as the Sebastopol Hills. Located just 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean and featuring the ideal Goldridge sandy loam soils, the vines at Pillow Road vineyard thrive in ideal climatic conditions, yielding beautiful expressions of cool-climate Pinot Noir. Planted in 2008, the Pillow Road vineyard features Pinot Noir clones Calera, Swan and Pommard 4, all of which complement each other in the final blend.
Cellar Notes
The 2022 Ladera Pinot Noir is a blend of three clones. The grapes were harvested at night, hand sorted and gently de-stemmed (25% whole cluster stem inclusion) to small open-top fermenters where the fruit underwent a 7 day “cold soak” to extract maximum fruit character. Once fermentation started, gentle maceration techniques were employed to ensure proper extraction was reached. The wine was drained without pressing and aged in 45% new French oak barrels for 16 months.
Tasting Notes
The 2022 Ladera Pinot Noir showcases a beautiful ruby red hue with inviting aromas of cherry and red currants accompanied with floral notes of dried rose petal and violet. The luscious palate bursts with expressive flavors of raspberry and dark plum, supported by a plush texture and refreshing acidity culminating through the elegant finish.

Vineyard Notes
The 2022 Ladera Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon hails exclusively from the Howell Mountain AVA. With elevations ranging from 1,600 to 1,800 feet the vineyard sits above the typical fog line benefiting from ideal sun exposure throughout the growing season. The abundant sunshine, combined with the distinctive red volcanic and mineral-rich soils, the grapes achieve full physiological ripeness producing ripe, flavorful Cabernet Sauvignon with remarkable structure and great aging potential.
Cellar Notes
The 2022 Ladera Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon embodies the full expression of its mountain origins. The grapes were carefully sorted by hand, de-stemmed without crushing then sorted a second time using optical image-processing. Once in tank, the grapes were cold soaked for 5 days to extract maximum fruit character. The wine was aged in 95% new premium French oak barrels for 22 months before the final blend was assembled.
Tasting Notes
The 2022 Ladera Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon shows both power and elegance, with a deep garnet color and an attractive array of blackberry, blueberry and cassis aromas. As the wine aerates, intriguing notes of dark chocolate and baking spices add to the appeal. The supple palate is layered with black cherry flavors and plush tannins that expand through the smooth, everlasting finish. A refined and approachable mountain Cabernet Sauvignon that will age well for many years.
