Identified as the premier block of the JAX Vineyard, \"Block 3\" yields the elite fruit of the vineyard estate.  Sourced from merely 8 rows, the clusters are aged in 100% french oak as the “ultimate” expression of our vineyard site. Layers of complexity, density and vibrancy.

Winemaker Notes

\n

Our Estate fruit was hand picked and gently processed using our state-of-the-art Pellenc sorting and destemming system. The pristine, whole berry fruit was fermented in a concrete tank fermenter. Time on skins lasted 15-30 days. The finished wine was aged in 100% new, tight grained, French Oak barrels for 22 months.  Bottled unflitered and unfined using 100 native spontaneous yeast. This wine will drink well for 15+ years.

Sourced from the Petaluma Gap AVA, this single vineyard Pinot is seductive, flawless, and focused. Regularly earning 93+ points from critics, we all concur that this is our staff’s universal favorite. It’s truly the ultimate Pinot for the Burgundian Enthusiast.

Winemaker Notes

\n

Our fruit is hand-harvested into small bins in the early morning to protect the fruit and preserve freshness. The grapes are hand sorted and partially de-stemmed before being placed in small open top fermenters. Following a 5-7 day cold soak period and 10-12 day fermentation the wine is aged 18 months in 40% new and 60% year old French oak barrels. Our burgundian style pinot noir coats the tongue with plum, fig overripe cherries, and a touch of oak. Seductive and focused, this wine offers a lingering suppleness and elegant earthy character through the finish. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, this wine will shine over the next 6-7 years.

Sourced from an ultra-fine grained soil block of the famed Dutton Ranch Vineyard, this complex mélange of apricot jam, crisp pear and vanilla notes framed by a refreshing citrus acidity.  This is our team favorite Chardonnay intended for the very discerning Chardonnay enthusiast.

Winemaker Notes

\n

We picked the firm berries in the early morning resulting in vivid, deep flavors, great acidity and excellent freshness. The wines will be very pure, with strong specific vineyard signatures. The 2022 season presented moderate temperatures through the fall which kept sugar levels and phenolic maturity in sync. Winemaker Kirk Venge ages this wine in 30% new French oak over a period of 10 months allowing the fruit’s characteristics to shine. The beautiful concentration of fruit flavors take on the richness from the French oak barrels while the wine’s balanced acidity maintains a crisp, bright palate. This wine is bottled unfiltered and unfined.

Our vineyard clusters were handpicked, sorted and cold-soaked immediately. Following fermentation, this wine was aged for 21 months in 75% French oak. The Calistoga terroir shines through in the Cabernet Franc’s rich aromatics and long finish, all accompanied by the structured tannins and French oak accents.

Sourced exclusively from the JAX family vineyard, our flagship Cabernet reflects our unique Calistoga terroir. Aromas of blackberries, cassis and forest floor unfolds into a perfectly ripe palate framed by grainy tannins and layers of savory notes.  This wine showcases great length and balance.

Winemaker Notes

Our grapes are handpicked (by the entire family including grandchildren), sorted and cold-soaked immediately. Following fermentation, this wine is aged for 22 months in 70% new French oak.  This wine offers dark, concentrated depth and character. Given a few minutes or hours after opening a bottle, the aromatics will continue to evolve and improve.

This powerful, deeply colored wine has notes of pulms, blackberries, dark-cherry liqueur, with touches of licorice and star anise. The mid-palare is heavy and dense with dark fruits and big tannins that broaden into a velvety finish. This wine can be cellered for 10+ years.

Winemaker Notes:

2023 was an exceptional year in Napa Valley. All the fruit we brouht in from our Estte Vineyard spoke to us and we knew we really had something special. Petit Verdot is often used in lending color and richness to red blends. While trialing our final blends of the vintge and we kept coming back to the idea of bottling a stand alone Petit Verdot. Just a 5 barrels bottling get yours before it's gone. We suggest decanting this wine for at least an hour as the oxygen will allow the nose to open and the texture to soften.

The 2023 vintage was an exceptional year for Cabernet Sauvignon in the Napa Valley.  In the spring of  2023, we were offered the rare opportunity to work with a pedigree dry farmed Old BV Clone 7 Cabernet Sauvignon. This vineyard is located on the Oakville Crossroad across the street from Opus One in the heart of the Oakville AVA.

This Cabernet Sauvignon offers a harmonious aromatic balance of rich black cherries, blackberries, and subtle notes of fresh roses, cassis, vanilla, and black pepper.  The palette reflects the lush aromic notes, along with a full-bodied mouthfeel replete with integrated tannins and vibrant acidity.

The Craft

\n

Our fruit was hand picked and gently processed using our state- of-art Pellenc sorting and destemming system. The fruit is then fermented in a combination of small lot stainless stell tank fermenters and open-top barriques. The total time on skin was 15-30 days. Finally the wine was aged in 50% new, tight grained, French Oak barrels for a total of 22 months. All Jax wines are produced using 100% native spontaneous yeast. Bottled unfiltered and unfined.

This North Coast Cabernet is dense, balanced and precise. The evocative nose is defined by true cassis, lush red currant and espresso. The palette continues with broad structure and textured plush flavors unfolding into a lovely vibrant finish.

Winemaker Notes

The fruit was hand picked and gently processed using our state-of-the-art Pellenc sorting and destemming system. The pristine, whole berry fruit was fermented in a concrete tank fermenter. Time on skins lasted 15-30 days. The finished wine was aged in 35% new, tight grained, French Oak barrels for 18 months. We employ a variety of cooperages for our Bordeaux varieties including Boutes, Sylvain, Taransaud, Gamba, and Alain Foquet. All Jax wines are produced using 100% native spontaneous yeast. Bottled unflitered and unfined.

Sourced from a single pedigreed vineyard site in Carneros, our chardonnay strikes the balance between pronounced, complex fruit notes ...and a bright finish. The grapes are fermented in French concrete tanks and aged in barrels 3+ years old to enhance aromatics, elevate mineral character, and showcase terroir.

Winemakers Notes

\n

Our Chardonnay grapes come from a single vineyard in Carneros that is influenced by the cooling effect of the Pacific Ocean allowing for a long growing season. The grapes are fermented in French concrete tanks and aged in barrels 3+ years old. The concrete vessel fermentation enhances the aromatics of the varietal, increases the mineral character and highlights the terroir and vineyard site.

Our Y3 Pinot underscores our commitment to wine expression without unnecessary manipulation. Layers of blackberry and Bing cherry... flavors are framed by hints of vanilla and forest floor. The supple tannins and bright acidity showcase balanced precision.  French oak barrels add an additional dimension of complexity.

Winemakers Notes

\n

Our fruit is hand-harvested into small bins in the early morning to protect the fruit and preserve freshness. Grapes are hand sorted and partially de-stemmed before going into small open top fermenters. Following a 5-7 day cold soak period and 10-12 day fermentation the wine is aged in French oak barrels.

Winemaker Notes

This single vineyard wine is fermented in a concrete tank followed by nuetral oak barrels.  The concrete walls serve to preserve delicate fruit flavors, acidity, and added mouthfeel.  As the quintessential Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, this wine shows no grass or vegetal character as the warmer AVA presents a fruit-forward melange of clean citrus, lemon, and grapefruit with a bright minerality to its finish.

Reflecting the dominating character of the Jackson's Y3 Ranch \"bull\" (translated as Taureau in French), this wine boasts dense purple fruit, flavors of blackberry, black cherry and red raspberry on the palate framed by polished tannins.   Sourced exclusively from premier Napa Valley appellations, this blend is comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Winemaker Notes

Our goal with this wine was to produce an approachable, everyday drinking wine with the high quality fruit sourced in Napa Valley. Cabernet Sauvignon provides the backbone and structure of this wine while the lush fruit of the Merlot brings body, texture and balance to the blend. This year we added just a touch of Cabernet Franc which brings aromoas of raspberry, bell pepper, cassis and violets. This unique blend brings out the best of each varietal producing a food friendly wine ready to be paired with a range of foods.
