The 2019 Sauvignon Blanc La Danza is bright, crisp and a real delight to taste. Lemon peel, white flowers and mint give the 2019 lovely aromatic energy. There is just enough pliancy to give the wine lovely mid-palate texture and fine balance.
This particular vintage of Spare Me is aptly named. One of only two of our wines to survive the 2020 Glass Fire, thanks to the fact the barrels were tucked away in a small cave at the far end of the property and out of the path of the fire, we are pleased that we are able to share this wine with you. The aromatics are lively and intense, with earthy notes of spice and cedar. Plush yet focused with great structure and nuanced layers, this wine has a lot to offer. We will never know what the most of our 2019 wines would become, but we are glad the 2019 Spare Me was spared. 247 cases produced. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc.

The 2019 Spare Me is a dense, plush wine. A healthy dollop of Cabernet Franc adds savory intensity and aromatic breadth. Jammy dark fruit, cedar, tobacco, incense and menthol add layers of complexity. This delightful red is a fine choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years.

\nThe 2021 Grenache is a dense and layered wine loaded with varietal character. Crushed owers, spice, cedar and tobacco meld into a core of pliant red cherry/plum fruit. The 2021 is forward and juicy, both of which add to its overall immediacy. The inclusion of 10% Syrah in blend adds richness to this fun, tasty Grenache from Les Behrens and Lisa Drinkward.

We love Rhône varietals, so this wine always makes us smile. The touch of Syrah in this vintage, sourced from the well-known Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria, really makes it stand out. Versatile and delicious, to be enjoyed with food or on its own. Sadly, like Cemetery, this is our second-to-last vintage from the El Diablo Vineyard because the Grenache vines were removed in 2024.
